The question coming in mind is should I use some sort of filter or buffer in between keyboard and micro in order to satisfy No input should be a uC pin.
The 'rules' apply to off-board connections. If your keypad plugs directly into your uC board with a VERY short (or no) cable, do not worry about it. If, however, the keypad is 'remote' you should buffer it
