#73818 - Design on two boards.- Russell
Responding to: ???'s previous message
"In testing the transzorb died so I had to add a MOV. So now the MOV takes the brunt and the transzorb cleans up the rest."

Thats news.

In India the CE mark( even for industrial stuff ) is not a must ( at least I have not gone thorugh it ). But I really appreciate the tough standards. For a simple 24V input if one had to provide a transzorb, MOV and Polyswitch - don't you think it is a overkill ? All these days ( actually 13 years to be precise ) I have just used fast acting 10mA fuses on the 24 V inputs and belive me - there has been no bigger demand to refine this. And some of the rigs are 24x7 stuff.

No harm in providing all the safety that you did, but is it justified in ALL contexts ? CE at what cost ?

Raghu
