Of course the UART is the best way to output debug information. I always go for the LED first to make sure it's just plain working since using RS232 also assumes your MAX232 is working, you don't have a loose wire between the MCU and the serial port, Windows hasn't decided to do something goofy, you are calculating your baud rate correctly given the crystal you are using, etc.
But once I have a blinking LED the very next thing I do is get the serial port transmitting debug information. Definitely. Regards, Craig Steiner |
