Before you begin to design a filter, you need to define the requirements. To begin I determine what frequencies I want to eliminate and what frequencies I want to pass. This defines the corner frequency; then I need to assess how sharp the division between pass and block. This determines my filter order (roughly). The final design is a compromise between phase coherency and a smooth passband.
Finally, I choose a filter design from one of the excellent links already mentioned. |
