my friend wants to convert his spare, broken tractor to an electric tractor with two independent 35 Hp drive motors ... i have seen the threads by Raghunathan R about the tractor he worked on, and have googled for some stuff ... but, i am wondering about battery life. the electric buses in san francisco have batteries but i think they mostly rely on overhead lines (they have long probes with contacts on the end that they can lift on and off the overhead wires).

anyway, would it sound feasible to use an electric tractor to mow a 10-acre field? or would the battery pack be too large? i think Raghunathan R might have some idea, and i think there is another member who works on electric automobiles or buses ....

(i am thinking autonomous control, and cameras with RF links, for multiple tractors with one operator, and a supervisory cutoff ...)
