I think you can do it much simply. Just use another LM78L05 or TL317 with paraller condenser 100uF/16V :). Remember to use tantal clamp condenser aproximetly 220 uF/25V nearly as passible to VCC +5V of uPC.
It s realy simpy and work quite good. Clousure TO-92 is a little.
