#79401 - RE: WEOT: Cables, Cables, Cables!!! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi George,
I had faced this problem and have 2 suggestions: 1> I have implemented about a year ago on my home PC, and years ago on my office PCs. With some products such as speakers, modems, etc., the manufacturers give a small plastic wire (about 2 inches long), which has got a single core metal wire, and this can be twisted as you wish. These also come with some products which we order for sample peices, such as smart card readers, magnetic readers,etc..I think you got what I am speaking about..sorry I do not know its technical name. People generally ignore them and throw them if they are of no use...well I tell my stores department people to store them, and whenever a new pc arrives, these are used for bunching the cables at the back of the PC, So this eliminates the tangles, etc, etc, etc. If you have seen large electric panels, they have a larger number of wires than you can imagine, they generally use 2 types of bunching, either they place the wires in the cable router which are plastic cases about 2"corss-section, and length as long as you wish. Since they are plastic you can cut,(or twist)them in between. The other type of bunching is; there is a special bunching sleeve available in my city, this is a wire with no metal in it, just the plastic. You make a bundle of these wires at every 1 inch of the cable using this (just plastic)wire. Believe me its time consuming but, looks very great job after the job is done. Only disadvantage here is if you have to re-route or remove a wire from this bunch then you have to follow the whole procedure, hence the first type of bunching is preferable. 2> Use the ordinary rubber bands to bunch the cables. Basically you have to organize your products and tools yourself, so depending upon your current (and future) needs you have to do the bunching, and routing of the cables. Even before you plan for purchasing a PC, you need a lot of home-work to do...the table, chair, power supply point, cable routing, ventilation to the room (or an AC-Air Conditioner),etc,etc,etc.... I am eager to read some more suggestions from other people. Bye, with best regards, from Mr. Kiran V. Sutar. |
