you'll get the digital temperature value so you don't need the analog multiplexer anymore.

Some of the digital temp sensors are accurate to a bit less than 1 deg C, but for measuring battery temp this is by far good enough. Do not get stuck on the temp tolerance, I'm sure you can negotiate it.
