#80670 - UART vs Serial Port Responding to: ???'s previous message |

No '51 derivative (I know of) has a serial port.
All derivatives (I know of) have a UART. Sorry Erik, but that answer is wrong; after all, what is a UART if it is not a Serial port...?! Since the standard 8051 serial port also has a shift-register mode of operation, it is not correct to call it simply a "UART" All three chapters of the "bible" make reference to the "Serial Port:" Chapter 1 - 6 occurrences; Chapter 2 - 14 occurrences; Chapter 3 - 47 occurrences. (there are also references to "UART" - but not so many) |
