#81824 - NV ram Responding to: ???'s previous message |
A quick visit to http://www.maxim.com will answer most if not all of your questions. They have battery-backed memories and battery backup controller ics - try MAX691 - it's quite popular. Non-voltaile ram is normally battery backed up. EEprom/Flash does not require a battery but has write limitations. FRAM is a new technology that has fast read and write and does not require a battery. See http://www.ramtron.com You also have a choice of serial ram/eeprom or parallel. The parallel devices hook up to the cpu bus and appear as XRAM. Serial devices require a couple of port pins to talk SPI,I2C etc. Serial devices normally are smaller in both size and capacity and are slower to read/write due to their serial nature. As to which technology and interface you choose depends on the application. |
