#82234 - rs485 distance problem |
Hi all, With my rigs, with 49 nodes on a rs485 bus, the longest distance I could communicate with is about 400 meter and max. of 10-11 nodes. The resting nodes are not able to communicate. I have used max3041E at nodes, rate is 19.2Kbps and cable used is cat5. I don't think that overloading is a problem, because if all the nodes are detached from bus while only 15th node is on bus(450 meter), I still have no communication. So what I came up with is that problem is distance itself. I've changed the converter (RS232/485) but it didn't make any good, contrary, the distance dramatically dropped to 200 meter. I cancelled the one-end terminating resistor or even of both sides but again had no improvement. I also applied some biasing in compliance withe doc. of B&B electronics hasn't made either. So I strongly need your advices about distance improvement. Thanks in advance. Rustu Kaya |
