Apart from the data+ & - signals, do you have the 0V connected to all the devices? Many people think you can omit this signal and it works ok - sometimes. The fact that you connect external power and makes things worse tends to suggest you have 0v issues. Most of the time I'm running 19200baud and have few problems - most are due to poor wiring (water in the junction box!!) and sometimes device failure. I've run 250kbaud for about 1Km with no problems before with about 15 devices using UTP CAT5. |
