#82943 - Snubbers? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Were snubbers or varistors used on the contactor coil? With the relay in circuit you may be able to see arcing of the contacts when it operates the contactor coik - if this is the case a snubber or a varistor may go someway to resolving this problem. DC solenoid valves are particulary nasty in this regard - some have built in varistors or diodes ,some don't. I rarely have problems with my gear - maybe this is because I use switchmode power supplies - not only do they filter out a lot of garbage in the mains input, they are also tolerant of the brief brown-out when a motor is started. In many instances of trouble, it pays to do some measurements - you'd be amazed at what may be actually happening. Normally a number of problems conspire to give one big headache. |
