My project used a ADuC for strain gauge conversion. I used the +/-40mV range with external reference (measurement was ratiometric so the reference is the 5v rail). I get about 16bits of stable reading at 20hz conversion rate. The lesson learnt with this project is that sigma-delta converters take a few cycles to give an accurate reading when you switch the inputs (I had 4 inputs switched via a mux) - 4 samples seemed to be about right to give an accurate conversion after switching the input. I can't comment directly on thermocouple performance. The AduC has an inbuilt temp sensor but it was reading 33degrees the other day when the ambient was about 23 degrees - so chip heating maybe an issue. |
