#85231 - ExpressPCB Responding to: ???'s previous message |

PWBs are, at least in the US, way to cheap to attempt homemaking. Just picking at random from ads a dozen 2 layer WITH MASK for $10 each, 4 layer @ $30 each. ExpressPCB.com advertise "download free layout software and get 3 PCBs for $51. I've used ExpressPCB and am satisfied. I had some basic PCBs made for $51 but that's for a PWB of specific dimensions--that was fine for a test run of their service. I then went to larger dimensions and it gets more expensive. But I'd still spend that money rather than doing a PWB at home. My only complaint with ExpressPCB came to their export policy--and perhaps I'm out of line--but if you calculate the unit price of the cards based on the formulas they provide my cards were worth about $6 apiece. But I got a "ProtoPro" package (I think that's what it was called, $229 for 5 boards) and had it shipped to Mexico. They refused to declare the value of the cards as $30 and instead insisted on including their "setup" charge in the declared value. This caused me to pay a lot more in import costs than was really reasonable. So in the future I'll be shipping my cards when I'm in the U.S. to receive them or will ship them to someone else who can slip them in a Fedex envelope and send them to me with a reasonable declared value.
