It may not be necessary that a final-year project has to be a new idea, or even the students own idea: when I did mine, we were free to either come up with an idea, choose from a list of suggestions from the university, or do a project suggested from industry. The object was to show that the student could tackle a significant design-and-build project, not that they could conceive wonderful new gadgets (although that probably helps!) In fact, a summary of the current "state of the art" may well be a valuable part of you Project Report. You should, of course, discuss this with your tutor(s)... |
