#85870 - Prepaid Energymeter: need help
My final year project is Prepaid Energymeter.
Unfortunately I haven't completed anything and worst part is that i'm doing it alone. My partner had some problems and had to opt out of this project.(he had to change coll. /city for health reasons).
Options considered and problems:
1) Analog ADE-775X series ICs
probs: availability, how to use IC practically?
Interfacing with microcontroller ?
ADE-775X supports SPI serial interface. I also need I2C serial interface for SmartCard(prepaid) How to get both using single microcontroller.
Choice of controller:
a)PIC: supports both SPI and I2C
b)8051 series: normally I2C, some versions support SPI
but cud not find them in market.

2) PIC controller:
Option discarded since never learned in theory and now its too late to learn & then implement.

3) 8051 series:
Seems to be best option.

Still can't choose between Analog ADE ICs and 8051.
coz my wild guess is that: ADE775X must be accurate than 8051 built.

*******What kind of help I'm expecting from you?*********

1) Guidence for method selection: which will be better and viable & feasible option out of 8051 and ADE-775X ?
Also ease of implementation ?

2) Some help regarding ckt diagram and practical implementation.
e.g. Normally waveform is Sinusoidal but not necessarily.
It may not be pure sine and also may have some distorted shape.
In that case we can't do RMS to DC using rectifier ckts
and will need different method. 1)readymade ICs or 2) Sampling signal and mathematically calculate.

I am in real trouble and have to complete this proj. for final year. Since i'm alone, its really pressure situation. Please help me.

regards,
Shantanu.
