Robert,
You put the 16C550 into loop back mode, (see the data sheet for details) this is done by setting up the appropriate registers. Then send data from the PC, the PC will then recieve the data back from the UART. You should recieve back to the PC, the data which was sent by the PC. If you do not recieve back the data that was sent by the PC, then your problem is with the 16C550. Jacob |
