I think I might have to wait until I have the information on the serial connection to the main computer, if I understand you right. I'm just looking for the max rate that I can get over port 1, but if you think the serial connection would be the bottleneck, I could just use that as my max data rate. As far as the amount of data that I could be expecting to receive from the FPGA, that isn't defined yet either. The last numbers I heard were quite large, but they are being double checked. A fail mode is planned if the data rate gets too big. These are all things that have yet to be completely defined though. The project leaders are just pushing me to get some data rate info on the hardware now.
Sorry for being slow with all this. I've only worked with an 8051 once before in a class, and everything was pretty much laid out for us, so all we had to do was program. Thanks Doug |
