#88047 - Languages Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I have this book, and it is getting a bit dated now although still useful, (I haven't looked at it in years)
It basically covers the MSCOMM active X control (which of course can be "embedded" into many other MS products, such as Access, Excel .....) however I probably wouldn't rush out and buy it if you are already familiar with the MSCOMM control. At the end of the day it is not that difficult. I think what trips most people up is the inability of VB to handle HEX and conversion from a binary array (which is hex) to something they can actually use. this is not covered in the book well (from memory - I'm sure someone will shoot me down if I am wrong) I have moved on from visual basic to TCL which is much older, but is really cool. I have to have a good play with it yet as I am no expert, but you can do so much with it. have a look at www.tcl.tk, take it or leave it, I don't really mind. Marshall |
