#88089 - Flush your buffers
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Alex Anselmi said:
In VB I did:

MSComm1.Output = "K" + Chr$(13) ' to send the character K

The 8051 stops working like it's waiting for the character...

Most comms programs use a buffer. If you send just a few characters the buffer will not be full and even if you send a carriage return the buffer may not be sent. Most comms programmes include a function call to flush the buffer (i.e. send all the characters in it right now) to overcome this probelm.
