#89232 - MIPS Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I'll put my 100 MIPS 8051 up against one of those little old 70s mainframes any day.
so will I speedwise however memorywise I do not recall any 64k memory or less mainframes made after the introduction of C - even the 5 screw PC had 256k. The memory requirement for calling a full (ab)use of printf is beyond what should be expected from a '51. Erik "5 screw PC" at the same time IBM increased the addressing capability of the PC to 640k, they changed the box to have 3 screws holding the lid. |
