It is not soooo good if the application is computation intensive.

It is, however, extermely good if the application is bit processing intensive.

There are other criteria where the '51 may be the best choice such as "internal peripherals" available.

There is no such thing as a "good" microcontroller, there is only the "right" microcontroller for the actual job and that is not the same uC every time.

So, your question is unanswerable till the application is described.
