#89361 - Decisions Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Why we are scared needs some discussion here...... Is the scare due to: 1 - cost of new learning 2 - not much resources are available for new choices 3 - the new options look difficult 4 - we become shy to learn new after having learnt one 5 - etc. etc. A lot depends on your situation. If you are a hobbyist or a professional working in low manufactured volumes where unit cost is not a primary issue then keeping to the same core processor and using different variants can be a cost effective and reliable way to achieve a range of developments. On the other hand if you are developing a very unit cost sensitive product where unit cost is more important than development cost then it will pay to at least look at other processor types which have exactly the right features at the minimum price.
