#89586 - Piece of cake Responding to: ???'s previous message |
To write a dedicated "upgrader" is really easy - and certainly easier, than to write a "universal" bootloader. If the application is such that it is a simple box with a detachable RS232 and disconnectable power supply, then maybe the default bootloader might do. If it communicates via RS 485 or other bus (I2C, SPI, anything else) using a multilayer protocol, then itis easier to encapsulate the upgrade commands within this protocol, with added comfort and security. I know no details on the LPC9xx bootloader, but, Erik, wasn't that you who said that for years demanded Philips to support RS485 in their (RD2) bootloader? So why not write it, when it is so easy now? Jan Waclawek |
