#89840 - Wasted Spark Responding to: ???'s previous message |
The plug fires eveytime the magnet on the flywheel passes the sensors which is once per revolution. Relating to the electronic ignition, it doesn't know or care if it is on the exaust stroke or compression stroke, it fires anyway. It is known as wasted spark in the motorcycle industry for bikes that this applies to.
I suppose one would need a sensor on the cam shaft to eliminate the wasted spark, easier on the plugs, coils, ignition etc. Regards James Krushlucki |
