Hi Neeha,
I would suggest you by doing simple tests/programs by yourself, using bit masks, simple arithmetic calculations, get yourself acquainted with assembly programming of 8051, then venture with the interfacing stuff..

Because, in my personal experience, starting directly with an interfacing project without knowing the intricacies of 8051 hw(port pullups) and assembly(bit moves and boolean computation), may lead to chaos.
