Hello Joshua,
You can interface your 80C51 to the solenoid using the below diagram (http://members.aol.com/cpu8052/doorlock.gif). You have to activate on of your port pins to logical low for about 1/2 second which will pull in say relay 1. The solenoid will pick up. Activating the other port pin to a logical low for about 1/2 second will pull in say relay 2. The solenoid will actuate the reverse way because the current flow thru it is opposite.
