#92000 - Linear v switchers Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Another consideration is the choice between the efficiency of switching supplies such as the PT6302 and the low noise of linear regulators.
We recently removed all the switcher supplies in our mixed signal system as we found that noise from them was beating with the very low level modulation that we have to detect in the analog signals. The switching frequency would drift over quite long periods of time and either correlate or not with our modulation frequency. Replacing the switchers by linears did of course increased the power consumption considerably. |
