BTW why do American universities refer to first courses as "101" Actually, at my undergrad (Stevens, in Hoboken), the first courses used to be Chem 15 (1st semester) and Chem 16 (2nd semester), Physics 15 and 16, etc. Second-year courses, like circuits, were EE 25 and 26. I don't know why. At some point, they expanded the universe to use three-digit class numbers. The first digit was always the year, and grad courses were 500- and 600-level classes. The first circuits class was renamed EE 215 and the second semester was 216. -a |
