1) there are, today, soo many chips (including the dirt cheap Philips LPC series) with hardware IIC, why muck around with doing it in software.
2) if you absoluitely, unconditionally have to, there are lots of appnotes at Philips that give you the code, why not start there and, when it works, do whatever you need to modify it to fit your needs.
