I regularly read Wikipedia, sometimes for work related reference but mostly at home for general interest. I have even made a few modest contributions.
In my experience, Wikipedia works amazingly well. You would think that vandalism would be a problem, but Wikipedia is largly self policing - contributors look out for miscreants and take action themselves. Moderator intervention is only occasionally needed (in proportion to the size of the project). However, I don't think that it would really work well for this site. I suspect that a successful wiki requires quite a large number of contributors. In any event, there are plenty of ways to contribute articles: here at 8052.com or Programmers Heaven or any number of other places. |
