You might find that the code which is output isnt static but changes,basically a pseudorandom sequence which both the transmitter and reciever can generate based on a seed number and the last sequence which was sent and accepted which is about the most simple 'secure' type of authetication protocol going.That would obvoiusly need some more work to reverse the actual protocol.Then again it might be as you say a simple repeating code.Lots of fun for all the family.
