It is not always the cost (FOB USA) of individual part but it is the cost and time to get that part. As far as MAX250 is concerned, it is not a single chip. It is a chipset MAX250/MAX251 which requires 6N136 optos as well. However, MAX3250 seems a good choice. Everyone on this forum is not producing thousands of units per month or year. Many are students, hobbyist and I know when I will have to produce 10,000 units, I will consider MAX3250 or something similar. Thanks for the information. |
