#97841 - It'll happen

I hope that each of these 'puzzles' could be archived somewhere, like in the tutorials section.

This makes sense, certainly, and I'll do it if we see that this takes off and is continued for a reasonable period of time. In the meantime, I'd invite anyone that posts a "weekend challenge" to start the thread with something like "PUZZLE FOR 07/29/05: Logic" where the date is the date the answer will be revealed and the 'Logic' is an oh-so-brief description of the puzzle.

That way when the time comes to make a special section for these things they'll be easy for me to go back and find by just searching on "PUZZLE".

Also since in this 'the actual first one', the syntax may be incorrect, the compliler should also be specified. I know mine (DDS) will not directly compile most of the 'C' code without modification. Because I don't 'C' that much I don't know all the differences.

I do think that code should be as syntaxically correct as possible. That doesn't mean it has to compile on every compiler, but it should be generally compilable code subject to compiler-specific adjustments. As it is, the code is broken and there could be some question as to the logic given the broken syntax. And even though Erik specifically made it clear that the answer he is looking for is not a syntax correction, there will be people that ignore or don't notice that caveat and simply fix the syntax and think that that's the answer to the problem.

Regards,
Craig Steiner
