Simply, Kai (and others) probably did not read that thread.

What about doing it semi-automatic?

Like: Erik would send the this-week's-question to Steve or Craig who in turn would publish it and close the thread immediately; then if somebody wishes to make a guess, sends the answer to some mailbox from where somebody would copy them in bulk at the end of the week, after Erik publishes the solution...
