During optimization we come to low free program memory and looking at the code found that each block of pushing/popping takes about 50 bytes in sum. So they "eats" about 1kb totally. Then I wrote two subroutines we talk about and it was enough.
I think this does not qualify that as "why not"; however, I can see it as "the reason why". Again, as you state there is/was a snag and ever so often you find that being "smart" is not very smart. You do not state whether "optimize the code once again and it stops working" resulted in a solid or intermittent problem, I would like to know. I know that the way I do things is extremely mundane because it is based on safe and sure rather than "exciting new inventions" but it has served me and those I work for very well. Erik |
