Hello Charles,

The book written by Kenneth J. Ayala entitled "The 8051
Microcontroller Architecture, Programming and Applications" ISBN
0-314-7727802 (soft back) has a schematic and software to connect 16
8051 IC's using RS485. Below is a snippet of the first page. To get
the rest of the example software you are going to have to buy the
book which is a great reference.
