#101114 - I think Neil is talking 422 and Ijaz is
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Neil Kurzman said:
The master may always have his transmitter on.

Ijaz replied:
That seems to lead to confusion. If master always keeps its transmitter on, how it is going to listen to reply from slaves?

I think Neil is talking 422 and Ijaz is talking 485.

While 422, in some ways, is "easier to code" using it is adding cost to the product. The supposed "easier to code" has led to much haphazard coding where slaves got into a fight.

With 485 ONLY ONE transmitter can be on at any time

When doing "direction switching" do remember that the serial ints occur before the stop bit is (fully) transmitted/received. I always insert a one bit time delay before switching the transmitter off and two bit times before switching it on.
