#101695 - no, it does not "crash"
Responding to: ???'s previous message
At least SiLabs debugger doesn't crash all the time. Have you really ever seen it crash? I haven't. And you should remember they give it away for free.
no, it does not "crash" all the time (for me about 25 times) it just takes 10 times longer to operate than a decent ICE. Just try to change the state of a bit.

I really do not give a hoot if they give it away for free, what good does a tool do me when I spend more time working around the debuggers idiosynchracies than actually debugging?. The breadstore down the street gives away moldy bread for free that does not make me use it (for anything but feeding ducks).

If they would make a debugger that worked and was user friendly (using the SILabs debuuger requires approx 3 times more mouseclicks per operation than a decent ICE) I would gladly pay $2500 for it.

I am sure amateurs with a small budget love what they get, however crappy it is, but SILabs unwillingness/inability to fix the bugs in the debugger and make it user friendly have got me to the state where, if i do not need the SILabs speed, I will not buy their products.

Erik

To change the state of a bit:
set a breakpoint where the bit is used, open a disassembly windoew, read the address of the bit, then (re)set the bit in the byte oin RAM where it resides. If you do what comes naturally: changing it in the watch window, it reverts to the previous state the moment you step or run.
