I've used both these methods on a sample, in order to develop the upgraded software/firmware.

This can be a good suggestion, but I have to ensure the component presence for the production.

Thank you for your suggestions, Erik: I already fixed the product for using AT89S8253 and so I will redo the PCB and use it.
