I want to interface 89C2051 microcontroller with PC, and run a very very basic program (actually at the moment I just want to learn that how serial communication works), I have done search on this forum and have found useful information but that information is one step ahead for me.
As I would first like to know that how do you connect serial port of PC with uC? what part ICs like MAX232 has to play ? is it compulsory to have MAX232 in circuit when connecting uC with PC? how do I configure hyper terminal? I know that buad rates have to be configured same for both PC and uC. I feel confident that I can do this on software end but am lost on hardware side. Could anyone please suggest a website or a tutorial which is available on net that explains simple interface betweem uC and PC. or if anyone is kind enough to give some details here I would be much obliged.
