#104715 - step by step '51 serial Responding to: ???'s previous message |
1. wire up your micro, a max232, a handful of capacitors; schematics - follow the link in http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=97242 or try to figure out from the 8052.com schematics. You will need also a cable; you would need to figure out the proper type of cable (I always struggle with this one).
2. throw away hyperterminal. Not that it is esencially bad, it just has incredibly stupid and unnecesarily complicated Windowsoid-setup, too many people has struggeld with it. Get terminal by bray. Set for 9600Baud/8 bits/none parity/1 stopbit/no handshake. Press "Connect". 3. Burn a simple and stupid "loopback" routine into your '51, e.g. from http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=103800 . Now typing in the terminal should give you back what you type - "echo". 4. Now try the same, this time with properly set UART in '51 : http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=103784 From here you should be able to move on on your own... Jan Waclawek |
