Hi Erik,

A fob goes back to the days of pocketwatches. It was an article that hung from the chain that held your watch. Today fobs are those little tags that hang on your keyring. I think what OP is calling a "keyfob" is one of those little remote transmitters that turns your car alarm on and off, locks and unlocks the doors, and generally makes your car emit that cool "bee-boop" sound. Of course, if all he wants to do is ARM/DISARM ALARM PANEL, I'm not sure why he's worried about his car (http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=117634).
