#117657 - Locking doors Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi again Yogesh,
Actually, if you get your alarm panel built, locking doors will not be a separate issue for long. In point of fact, current trends in the industry (for a few years now) are to incorporate the arming/disarming mechanism directly into the door locking/unlocking mechanism. That way, when Mr. Homeowner comes home, he doesn't have to hurry to a keypad and enter a number before a time delay runs out. All he has to do is unlock his door normally. You wouldn't believe how many false alarms are caused by this sort of thing. As for my previous post, I was merely suggesting that you use the same print scanning technology to arm/disarm your panel, not lock/unlock the door. But now that I think about it I would probably do both with the same scan signal. There is also another technique used in alarm systems, called a duress code. It's a combination that, when entered, causes the panel to disarm just like it always does, but then send a message to the central station (monitoring location) warning that the owner was forced under duress to disarm the system. I would probably incorporate just such a feature into my alarm system. Use the thumb to unlozk/disarm and all is well. Use the index finger to unlock/disarm and the panel sends a duress message. |
