I would assume that you can register more than one or two scans for a given lock/alarm panel. That being the case, I would prefer the biometric mechanism to the traditional key. It should be an easy enough proposition to scan a friend's/neighbor's fingerprint into the system if you want to give them access. And if you decide to rescind that access it's a lot easier to delete their entry than coerce someone into returning a key that they might not want to. And if they loose a key you need to change the whole lock. If they lose a finger you're only out the cost of a sympathy card and the time to delete their data.
