#118025 - Hello?

RESET occurring due to any other event is of no consequence. It can be simply ignored.

If you do not know what caused the resets, how can you then be sure, that they can be simply ignored???

Ganeshan said:
So uP software has been modified to hold CLR line of monoshot to inhibit it's input for a certain duration. With this subsequent resets are avoided. After validating that the reset was due to pushbutton switch, action is taken. Monoshot input inhibition is removed after a certain timeout

You want the monoflop to restart your micro, when it hangs, but you inhibit the monoflop by software?? What if the micro hangs, with inhibited monoflop??? Come on, what are you doing there? You cannot solve a hardware problem with illogical code. You should solve the problem, but not make it more and more complicated.

Ganeshan said:
True, in this design , noise is not really removed. Also all protection is not present. But I am not very much concerned, as cross verifying that push button switch pressing is done which positively identifies pushbutton switch pressing.

You aren't concerned?? You are sitting on a time bomb and you aren't concerned? Are we nuts who we try to remove noise and use protection circuitries, wasting the money of our company by putting totally senseless parts on the board? Come on, wake up! Try to find the reason for the subsequent resetings.

Ganeshan said:
Now my only worry is about Hardware failing. Is there any possibility of monoshot failing due to external induced voltages?

Hello? I thought you aren't concerned? Any possibility of monoflop failing? No, remember you have modified the code and solved the problem..

Ganeshan, I can understand that you are under time pressure and need to find a solution for your problem. But don't solve the problem by closing your eyes and by designing "magic code". You have an elementary hardware problem, which must be solved by elementary hardware measures.
