the advantages of not suffering from interruptifobia is that your program is running while the character is (not) coming down the line. Thus you can check what you have (e.g. character count) without hanging in the while(!RD)

interruptifobia: what those that want to NOT use an interrupt if at all possible suffer from. Some claim that interrupts are difficult, not using them is waaaaay more difficult.
