I agree, but many take this as an excuse for "no error detection, timeout etc is needed". That is "asking for it".

In a project installed in 10.000s I have, out of curiousity, inserted a "write to flash if timeout occur" feature and the techies read this on every board coming back for whatever reason. I have yet to see this slot written, but will that make me drop the timeout? Never!
