#126066 - etc, etc
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Not just that:

it would also have to be applicable to different compilers & versions;

it would also have to be configurable to different trade-offs between code size & execution speed

etc, etc?

The 'worst case' of the above would be an I/O 'abstraction' which would need be 'configurable' to whatever pin was used for whatever. Just visualize the code (either a bunch of 32 stacked ifdefs or some extremely cumbesome code to make bits 'appear' indirectly addressable).
